Who is Planet Show Prep?
Planet Show Prep is written and produced by McGregor…no last name, just McGregor. A topical comedy writer, news junkie, and show prep animal. McGregor knows how to entertain the masses. He is a crafty media veteran with 15 years of experience in everything show prep, from writing comedy to on-air gigs as a radio personality, morning show host and producer.
McGregor got his start as a freelance writer, selling topical comedy to anybody and everybody, including Jay Leno for The Tonight Show monologue, Joan Rivers, and dozens of humor publications. He even wrote a stand-up act for some lousy ventriloquist in California. The ventriloquists’ career skyrocketed after that!
McGregor soon began writing for The Morning Punch, a daily topical comedy service. He cranked out gobs of top notch material used by over 100 morning radio shows nationwide. During this time he also wrote jokes, bits, and games for The Rise Guys at KRXQ/Sacramento. Soon, McGregor was using his irreverent brand of entertainment on-air, co-hosting a humorous late night show full of bits, characters, and listener calls. McGregor honed his craft at his next gig as a radio personality at KWOD/Sacramento. Eventually his comedy-show prep material was leaked to a cross-town rival, and he was soon lured over to KZZO The Zone to host nights.
McGregor traded nights for mornings, and the West Coast for the South when he launched a successful morning show at WLRS/Louisville. McGregor’s New Rock Morning Show created quite a buzz in Louisville due to the compelling content he was able to create every morning. Bits, jokes, games, characters, voices, stunts, phoners, crank calls…the works! All those years of writing comedy and show prep paid off with impressive ratings and a loyal fan base.
McGregor has since returned to California, where he has been an on-air personality at 98 Rock/Sacramento, and later a daily topical writer for the American Comedy Network.
